  • Duty posts and hoursPosts such as the playground, corridors and canteen with a duty description; hours from the bell times (30 minutes before the first lesson to 30 minutes after the last).
  • Fair distributionAt most one duty a week per teacher; the teacher with lessons that day and the fewest of them is chosen, exempt teachers are skipped and nobody gets two posts on one day.
  • Swaps and daily changesA teacher asks a colleague to take a duty, the colleague accepts and the office approves. The office can give a day’s duty to someone else or move the post.
  • Reminders and instant noticesA reminder the evening before; any change to the rota or the day reaches the teachers affected at once.
  • Duty logTeachers on duty write incidents from their phone; the office reads them and marks them as seen. Entries are not deleted.
  • Print-outs and reportsA printable rota with a signature list; a report of duties done, covered and handed over per teacher.
